"UPES and Bajaj Auto Partner to Establish BEST Centre for Engineering Upskilling"

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) and Bajaj Auto Limited have announced a partnership to enhance the skills of engineering students, graduates, and diploma holders in cutting-edge 21st-century technologies. As part of this collaboration, Bajaj Auto will establish an advanced Bajaj Engineering Skills Training (BEST) Centre at UPES, aligning with their CSR commitments.

The BEST Centre, Bajaj Auto's flagship CSR initiative, aims to empower engineers from tier 2 and tier 3 colleges by setting up state-of-the-art labs in partnership with leading universities across India. These centres will provide world-class infrastructure and a platform for learners to acquire in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in emerging technologies.

The joint initiative will offer two full-time training programs: one for diploma engineers and another for graduate engineers. Both programs will be hosted on the UPES campus, welcoming students from various engineering and diploma colleges across Uttarakhand and beyond. The BEST program will cover areas such as Mechatronics, Motion Control and Sensor Technology, Robotics and Automation, and Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing. The curriculum is designed to address the current skill gaps in the manufacturing sector.

The BEST program will also support young learners from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, enhancing their employment opportunities.

Dr. Ram Sharma, Vice Chancellor of UPES, emphasized, "At UPES, our dedication to delivering quality education and preparing students for the industry is unwavering. This partnership represents a significant milestone in our mission to equip students with essential skills for innovation and problem-solving. Our programs immerse students in cutting-edge technologies, preparing them to excel in their future careers."

Sudhakar Gudipati, VP of CSR at Bajaj Auto Ltd., added, "Through our BEST program, we aim to bolster India's skilling ecosystem and empower youth with the knowledge needed to thrive in a competitive environment. We are excited to collaborate with UPES and look forward to seeing aspiring engineers unlock their potential."

UPES, known for its focus on innovation, also recently secured a grant from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) for its startup incubator, Runway, to establish an inclusive technology business incubator (i-TBI).
