UP Gets Green Push: Coal India and UPRVUNL Collaborate on Solar Venture.
State-owned coal mining giant Coal India Ltd (CIL) announced recently its collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (UPRVUNL) to develop a 500 megawatt (MW) solar power project in Uttar Pradesh.
This initiative aligns with Coal India's broader strategy to expand its presence in the green energy sector and cater to the increasing energy demands of Uttar Pradesh.
In a filing with the BSE, CIL stated that it had executed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UPRVUNL on May 5, 2025, in Lucknow. The MoU outlines the intent of both entities to jointly establish the 500 MW solar power project within the state of Uttar Pradesh. This partnership marks a significant step towards promoting renewable energy and sustainable development in the region.
