Tuticorin Port set record in coal handling

Madurai: Tuticorin Port has created a new record on January 15 by unloading 29,030 tonnes of `thermal coal' in bulk at coal jetty I from the vessel 'm.v. P.AP.J. Akhil'.

The previous record discharge of thermal coal was 27,088 tonnes on January 5 from the vessel 'm.v. Tamil Periyar'.

The steamer agents and the stevedores for the vessel 'm.v. P.AP.J Akhil' are Machado Brothers and Poompuhar Shipping Corporation Ltd, respectively, according to the Chairman of Tuticorin Port Trust, Mr N.K. Ragupathy, in a release to the press here.
