Terminal building to be extended in Skardu Airport
Lahore: Director General Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) laid down the foundation stone of extension of existing terminal building of Skardu Airport. The project will cost Rs 37.5 million and is to be completed within 18 months.
The DG said that existing facilities of arrival/departure lounges and car parking area will be doubled to cater more passengers in befitting manner.
He also laid down the foundation stone of new terminal building at Gilgit Airport. This project will approximately cost Rs 50 million and its completion time is 18 months. During the visit, the DG, along with CAA experts, took ariel survey regarding extension of the existing runway in order to facilitate the loaded aircraft for landing and takeoff.
This project will cost approximately Rs 80 million while re-carpeting of runway will cost about Rs 30 millions. The completion of these projects will definitely boost the tourism activities in these areas. Meanwhile addressing the staff at Skardu airport Farooq Rehmatullah spoke about the restructuring and polices of CAA. It is worth mentioning here that the sitting DG CAA has the honour to visit Northern area airports after a lapse of 25-years.
