"Telangana Seeks ₹1,779 Crore Loan from Centre for T-Fiber Project"

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has requested the Centre to provide a ₹1,779-crore interest-free loan to support the State’s T-Fiber project. During a meeting with the Union Minister on Friday, the Chief Minister outlined that the State Government has already secured ₹530 crore from various financial institutions for the initiative.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the interest-free, long-term loan, sourced through the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USFO), is crucial for the timely completion of the project. In October 2023, the State government submitted a detailed project report (DPR) to the Centre, requesting the conversion of the first phase of the National Optical Fiber Network (NOFN) to Bharat Net-3 architecture. The Chief Minister urged the Union Minister to expedite the approval of the DPR.

The T-Fiber project aims to provide fiber connections to 63 lakh households in rural areas and 30 lakh households in urban areas across the State.

Additionally, the Chief Minister, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, met with Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Mansukh L Mandaviya. They requested that Telangana be considered as a venue for hosting national and international sports events, including the Olympics, citing the State’s robust infrastructure and the numerous national and international awards won by its athletes.
