Tatas to expand telecom services
Kolkata: Tata Teleservices Ltd will launch telecom services in the Northeast and Assam by August this year.
In the process, the company will expand its footprint in the region to cover all eastern and north-eastern States with its bouquet of telecom services, according to Mr Sanjiv Sinha, Regional Head (East) and Chief Operating Officer, Kolkata Telecom Circle, Tata Teleservices Ltd.
Mr Sinha told a news conference that an investment of Rs 290 crore would be made in the company’s telecom services rollout in Assam and other north-eastern States.
This would comprise the cost of setting up of 255 base transmitting stations.
The company on Tuesday launched the new ‘Walky Talky’ here for its customers in the post-paid category.
For availing the Walky Talky, a customer needs to pay Rs 1,299 for the handset and a nominal price for the activation kits. The company will soon extend the new Walky Talky offering to its customers in the pre-paid segment as well.In the Kolkata Telecom Circle, Tata Teleservices has a customer base of 1.2 million.
