Tata Steel Aims for Larger Auto Sector Share, Focuses on Odisha Plant Expansion.

Tata Steel is bolstering its new cold rolling milling (CRM) complex in Kalinganagar, Odisha, to serve both domestic and global markets and maintain its leadership position in automotive steel, according to a senior executive.

The CRM complex, which has an annual capacity of 2.2 million tonnes and was commissioned in FY23, is largely dedicated to the automotive segment.

Work on continuous annealing and galvanizing lines—crucial processing systems for automotive grades of steel—is currently underway. These systems are expected to be commissioned in the next few quarters.
