In a strategic move towards bolstering its power generation capabilities, Tata Power is gearing up to exceed 18,000 MW in total capacity over the next two years, with a significant contribution expected from the renewables sector.
Currently operating at 14,381 MW, Tata Power's existing capacity comprises 8,860 MW in thermal energy and 3,191 MW in solar power. Furthermore, the company has 3,760 MW of renewable capacity actively under construction. Speaking to the media at the Bhivpuri site in Maharashtra, where the company is in the process of establishing a pump storage hydro project, Managing Director and CEO Praveer Sinha revealed the latest developments.
Sinha highlighted that Tata Power secured several bids in the renewables segment just last week, positioning the company on a trajectory closer to its ambitious goal of achieving over 20 GW in renewable capacity by 2030. Among the recent victories, the company announced the reception of a letter of award for the development of a 200 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy project in collaboration with SJVN.
The expansion of Tata Power's renewable portfolio reflects the company's commitment to sustainable energy initiatives, aligning with global efforts to transition towards cleaner and greener power sources. As the renewables segment continues to play a pivotal role in the company's growth strategy, Tata Power remains poised to make substantial contributions to India's renewable energy landscape in the coming years.
