Tata Power commissions unit at Haldia

Coimbatore: Tata Power Company Ltd has announced the commissioning of power generation facility at Haldia in West Bengal.

The company said that unit 1 of 2 x 45 MW Phase of Haldia project was synchronised with the grid on April 2. The second unit is scheduled for commissioning later this year.

The company had acquired the 2 X 45 MW IPP power plant from Hooghly Met Coke & Power Company Ltd (HMC), a 98 per cent subsidiary of Tata Steel Ltd.

The plant will utilise coke oven gases to generate power, a part of which will be sold under a PPA to the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd and the remaining traded through Tata Power Trading Company Ltd.
