Tamakoshi access road to take one more year

Dolkha: The construction of access road, which was supposed to be completed by mid-April this year, of the much hyped Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectricity Project (UTHP), needs one more year for completion.

Speaking at a program organized, Arjun Kumar Karki, executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) admitted that the construction would be delayed by a year because of contractors' apathy and technical hitches.

He, however, assured that the construction would start as scheduled.

Five different private construction companies have been contracted to build the 28-km long track from Singati.

'We will hold talks with contractors soon regarding the matter,' Karki said.

He further claimed NEA had been working tirelessly to complete the 309-megawatt power project in time.

Local chapter of Federation of Nepalese Journalists organized the program to felicitate Karki, honoring his endeavor to distribute 10 percent shares of the project to denizens of Dolakha district.
