Switch Mobility, the electric mobility arm of the Hinduja Group, has secured an order for 650 electric buses from Sai Green Projects Pvt. Ltd. for deployment in Mumbai and Pune under the Government of India's PM E-Drive Phase II scheme.
Under the contract, Switch Mobility will supply 9-metre electric buses as part of the CESL PM E-Drive Phase II tender, in which Sai Green Projects has been selected as the operator. The order includes both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned buses, which will be deployed with Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) in Mumbai and Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd. (PMPML).
Ganesh Mani, CEO of Switch Mobility, said the deployment represents a significant step towards reducing emissions, improving operational efficiency and modernising public transportation in India.
"With a growing product portfolio, we are well positioned to support the evolving mobility requirements of cities across India," he said, adding that the order marks the beginning of a long-term partnership with Sai Green Projects under the PM E-Drive initiative.
Sai Green Projects CEO Vikas Gupta said the partnership will contribute to India's transition towards cleaner and more efficient public transportation while enhancing the commuting experience for passengers in Mumbai and Pune.
Switch Mobility said it has deployed more than 2,500 electric buses in India, with its global electric bus fleet covering over 185 million green kilometres. The company also manufactures electric light commercial vehicles and is expanding its presence across city, intercity and specialised mobility segments.
