Swiss Tech to Power Avaada’s Green Ammonia Plant in Odisha.

Avaada Group has joined forces with Swiss-based Casale to develop a cutting-edge green ammonia plant in Gopalpur, Odisha, with a capacity of 1,500 tons per day (TPD). The plant will be powered entirely by renewable energy and leverage Casale’s advanced ammonia production technology to ensure a carbon-free process, according to a company press release.

Casale will provide the Green Ammonia Process License, Basic Engineering Package, Proprietary Equipment, and Detailed Engineering review for the project. With this deal, Casale’s licensed green ammonia capacity in India now stands at 5,700 TPD, CEO Federico Zardi stated.

The announcement follows Avaada’s recent MoU with the Odisha state government to invest ₹20,700 crore in 1,500 MW of floating solar projects, two 1,000 MW pumped hydro storage plants, and green energy equipment manufacturing units.

Avaada aims to achieve 11 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2026. In 2023, it secured $1 billion from Brookfield’s Energy Transition Fund and $300 million from GPSC, a subsidiary of Thailand’s PTT Group.
