Suzlon Joins RE100, Sets 2030 Target for 100% Renewable Energy.
The Suzlon Group has announced its commitment to a greener future by becoming the first Indian energy company to join the RE100 Initiative. The company has pledged to source 100% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030 across all 15 of its manufacturing facilities.
RE100 is a global corporate movement led by the Climate Group in partnership with CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). By joining, Suzlon is accelerating its mission to achieve carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035 and net-zero for all emissions, including those across its value chain, by 2040.
Progress Toward Decarbonization
This commitment builds on Suzlon's recent progress in decarbonizing its operations. In the past year, the company achieved 92.87% carbon neutrality at the plant level. Its Rotor Blade Unit in Dhule, for example, is already powered entirely by renewable sources.
The company has also made significant strides in reducing its environmental impact, including:
A 17.19% reduction in energy intensity compared to the previous fiscal year.
An 88.51% cut in Scope 1 and 2 emission intensity.
An 80.7% increase in renewable energy consumption, highlighting its dedication to its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals.
