Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Jumps 15% on ₹3,550 Crore Solar Project Wins.
Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy recently announced that it has secured new domestic orders worth approximately ₹3,550 crore, triggering a sharp rally in its stock.
Following the announcement, the company’s shares surged over 15 per cent on the National Stock Exchange, trading at ₹223.73, making it one of the top 10 gainers on the exchange as of midday.
The bulk of the order value comes from Coal India Limited, which has declared SWREL as the L1 (lowest) bidder for a turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract. The project involves developing an 875 MW AC grid-connected solar photovoltaic plant in Bikaner. The contract, which includes operations and maintenance as well as applicable taxes, is valued at about ₹3,490 crore. This also marks SWREL’s first project win from Coal India.
In a separate development, the company also received an order to develop a 50 MW AC solar project in Maharashtra from a private independent power producer (IPP), contributing the remaining ₹60 crore to the total order value announced.
