Steel Ministry Approves Slurry Pipeline for ArcelorMittal Steel Plant.

A week after receiving environmental clearance from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF), ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel’s upcoming steel plant project at Anakapalle has received another key approval - this time from the Ministry of Steel.

The ministry has approved the laying of a slurry pipeline to transport iron ore to the proposed steel plant. The approval was granted under the Petroleum and Minerals Pipeline (Acquisition of Right of User in Land) Act, 1962, which provides the right of way for pipeline construction.

The pipeline will carry iron ore slurry from Chhattisgarh to Anakapalle, passing through Malkangiri in Odisha. Under the Act, a designated authority will oversee approvals for the right of way across the regions the pipeline traverses.
