Solar Firm Indosol Sets Ambitious Target of 5 GW Manufacturing Capacity by October 2026.
Indosol Solar, the photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing arm of the Shirdi Sai Electricals (SSEL) Group, is aggressively expanding its manufacturing capabilities, aiming to reach one gigawatt (GW) of ingot-to-module production capacity by the close of the current calendar year. The company has even more ambitious plans, targeting a substantial scale-up to 5 GW by October 2026.
This expansion is being driven by the establishment of a state-of-the-art, vertically integrated giga-scale solar PV manufacturing facility in Ramayapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This comprehensive facility will encompass the entire production chain, from quartz processing to the final module assembly. The project is being undertaken under the government's production linked incentive (PLI) scheme, designed to boost domestic solar manufacturing.
Visweswara Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of the SSEL Group, shared details of the company's progress, stating, "By December, we will be producing 1 GW from ingot to module, which is our pilot plant wherein we are planning to train and skill people and get expertise in operations." This initial phase will serve as a crucial step in building expertise and a skilled workforce for their larger 5 GW target.
Indosol Solar's commitment to establishing a fully integrated manufacturing process, from raw materials to finished products, highlights a strategic move to enhance efficiency, control quality, and contribute significantly to India's growing solar energy sector. The achievement of these ambitious targets will position Indosol Solar as a key player in the domestic solar manufacturing landscape.
