Sigma Advanced Systems Buys AS Strategic, Strengthens Global Aerospace & Defence Platform

Sigma Advanced Systems has acquired Delhi-based AS Strategic, a defence and space-focused company with strong European linkages, for ₹30 crore, strengthening its position in global aerospace and defence markets.

AS Strategic operates through long-term joint ventures and exclusive service partnerships with leading European and global defence original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The acquisition deepens Sigma’s participation in European defence programmes and significantly expands its international footprint, the company said in a statement.

Sigma currently operates across India and the UK and is expanding in the United States. It is among the largest India-headquartered manufacturers of aero-engine and aerostructure components, working closely with global aerospace and defence OEMs at the programme level through long-term agreements and delegated responsibilities.

AS Strategic brings an order book of over ₹315 crore for calendar year 2026, largely tied to ongoing European defence programmes. Through the acquisition, Sigma gains access to established joint ventures and service-based partnerships with major European defence companies, including AbraWorks, Escribano and Arquimea.

AS Strategic has also forged exclusive partnerships with global OEMs for advanced engineering services, including agreements with CSG Group companies—Excalibur International, MSM Group, BTG Defence and Fábrica de Municiones de Granada (FMG). Additionally, it has agreements with Yugoimport SDPR, Milkor (Pty) Ltd, Truvelo Armory Manufacturers and SAES Electronica Submarina.

According to the company, the transaction will provide Sigma with participation in long-duration international defence programmes, improved qualification cycles, stronger programme references, closer customer proximity and greater visibility of repeat orders.

Commenting on the deal, Sunil Kalidindi, CEO of Sigma Advanced Systems, said the acquisition embeds the company deeper into global defence programmes where trust, execution discipline and long-term commitment are critical. “Along with Nasmyth, we are building an integrated global platform that enables us to move decisively up the value chain—from subsystems to systems and integrated solutions—while supporting India’s ambition to emerge as a serious defence exporter,” he said.

Kalidindi added that defence customers are increasingly prioritising lifetime programme ownership over transactional supply. “AS Strategic provides us with an installed base, programme continuity and customer proximity that would take years to build organically,” he said.
