Sarbananda Sonowal Announces Bidding for First Phase of Galathea Bay Project in the Coming Year

The development of the first phase of the ambitious Galathea Bay project, valued at Rs. 44,000 crore, is set to take a significant step forward as Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced plans to issue tenders early next year. In a statement released on Thursday, the minister highlighted the forthcoming milestone in the project's timeline.

The Shipping Ministry provided updates on the project's environmental clearance, confirming its approval in November of the preceding year. Additionally, the project has attained Stage 1 forest clearance, marking a crucial step in navigating regulatory requirements. Furthermore, the ministry disclosed that the in-principle approval for the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the International Container Transhipment Port (ICTP) project is currently in the finalization stage.

These developments signal progress in the Galathea Bay project, a key infrastructure initiative that aims to establish a robust International Container Transhipment Port. The upcoming issuance of tenders marks a pivotal moment, inviting potential stakeholders and contributors to participate in shaping the future of this significant maritime venture.
