Rural Roads Damaged by Economic Corridor to Be Reconstructed Soon.

Koraput district administration has announced immediate repair and reconstruction of vital rural roads damaged during the construction of the Koraput segment of the six-lane Raipur-Vishakhapatnam Economic Corridor (NH 10-CD) under Bharatmala Pariyojana. The decision comes ahead of the monsoon to restore connectivity in affected areas.

“During the recent District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting, we found several rural roads had been damaged due to NH 10-CD construction. Their repair has been prioritized,” said Koraput collector Keerthi Vasan V.

The project, covering 124 km in Koraput district, is valued at ₹4,600 crore. According to officials, over 70% of the highway construction is complete, and rural roads in the completed sections will be repaired first.

The corridor has six access points within Koraput district—Kaliagura, Benasur, Tala, Lunguri, Kunduli, and Baraja. Once completed, it is expected to reduce travel time significantly, cutting the Koraput-Visakhapatnam journey from seven hours to under two and the Koraput-Raipur journey from ten hours to less than four.

Residents welcomed the administration's decision. “Our village road has been damaged for months, making travel difficult. The swift action to repair the roads will ease our hardships,” said Ashok Harijan, a resident of Benasur.
