Rly. Minister promises to take up city-related projects.

Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu has assured that he would ensure that railway-related projects in the twin cities would be taken up, responding positively to a representation from Telangana's Excise Minister T. Padma Rao Goud.

In a press release, Mr. Goud said the Railway Minister had responded positively to his representation and said he would get all the issues examined. Issues raised by Mr. Goud include taking up of Phase II works on the Multi-Modal Transit System to connect suburbs like Bollarum, Bhongir, Shamshabad Airport, electrification of Secunderabad-Bollarum-Medchal line, developing Secunderabad, Kachiguda and Nampally as world-class stations and starting of new terminals at Moula Ali, Lingampally and Malkajgiri.

The Excise Minister also wanted introduction of new trains to Ajmer, Shirdi and Thiruvananthapuram, expansion of road-under bridges (RUB) at Bhoiguda, James Street, Bible House, Minister Road, Lallaguda (Konda Reddy Nagar) and construction of road-over bridges and RUBs at Gautamnagar, Safilguda, Vajpayee Nagar and Lingampally, apart from renovation of railway quarters that are in dilapidated condition at Chilkalguda, North and South Lallaguda, Vijayapuri, Sitaphalmandi, Hamali Basti, Bhoiguda and starting of a medical college, nursing college and hockey academy.
