Rising cotton prices worry small spinners

Coimbatore: The South India Small Spinners Association (Sisspa) has said the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) decision to hike cotton prices would only encourage the private trade to further jack up their rates which would upset the small textile mills' raw material planning.

The Sisspa President, Mr R. Kuppusamy, in a statement said CCI had in the past 10 days jacked up its prices by Rs 1,000 per candy (of 356.65 kg) and this had made the CCI's prices far higher than prevailing ones.
