responsAbility to Invest Up to $35 Million in AMPIN Energy Transition
AMPIN Energy Transition announced on Tuesday that it has secured an investment commitment of up to $35 million from responsAbility, a Switzerland-based impact asset manager specializing in private market investments. The funding is part of responsAbility's broader $500 million climate investment strategy aimed at actively reducing CO2 emissions in Asia.
"This investment represents responsAbility’s most substantial commitment to climate financing to date and will support AMPIN in expanding its renewable energy portfolio across India," AMPIN said in a statement. "This is a significant step in responsAbility’s mission to mobilize capital for solutions that generate positive societal and environmental impacts in emerging markets."
The capital infusion will enable AMPIN to pursue a range of renewable energy projects through its various special purpose vehicles (SPVs), with a focus on commercial and industrial (C&I) solar energy projects. These projects will span across diverse sectors such as manufacturing, automotive and auto ancillary, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, hospitals, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and data centers. The company aims to increase its operating capacity to 10 GWp by 2030.
"With this infusion of capital, we are poised to accelerate our efforts in expanding clean energy access, driving economic development, reducing carbon emissions, and steering the country toward a sustainable and self-sufficient energy future," said Pinaki Bhattacharyya, Managing Director and CEO of AMPIN Energy Transition.
