Renewable energy pilot project launched

Male: The world's first Hybrid AC Coupled Renewable Energy Micro Grid has been launched at North Thiladhunmathi Atoll Uligamu. The project, which will mean islanders can use solar energy, comes amid growing concerns over rising global fuel prices. The project was funded by the State Trading Organisation (STO), and Maldives Gas, and received technical and material support from the Singapore and US Governments.
