Reliance Banks on Solar Giga Factory, Battery Storage to Drive Next Phase of Growth.

The Reliance Group has outlined a major new phase of transformation centred on clean-energy manufacturing, large-scale battery storage and green power, while simultaneously strengthening its presence in power distribution, defence production and transport infrastructure through Reliance Infrastructure and Reliance Power.

Under Reliance Infrastructure, the Group is setting up one of India’s most advanced integrated solar manufacturing giga factories, spanning the entire value chain from ingots and wafers to cells and modules. The facility will be built on next-generation TopCon-plus technology and is being engineered to accommodate future back-contact and tandem cell architectures. According to recent corporate disclosures, the initiative aligns with key policy tailwinds, including the expansion of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) to upstream components, production-linked incentives (PLI) and domestic content requirements.

In parallel, the Group is building a full-spectrum battery-cell and midstream battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing ecosystem, covering cell production, pack assembly and grid-scale containerised storage solutions.

On the generation front, Reliance Power’s clean-energy platform, Reliance NU Energies, has secured 4 GW of solar capacity, 6.5 GWh of BESS and 770 MW of hydro capacity in Bhutan over the past year, backed by long-term 25-year power purchase agreements. The platform is focused on hybrid and round-the-clock renewable energy systems combining solar, wind and storage.

Together, these clean-energy initiatives are positioned as the Group’s next engines of growth, including plans for 4,000 MW of renewable projects, 6,500 MW of BESS and 770 MW of hydro power. Meanwhile, Reliance Infrastructure continues to prioritise power distribution, transport infrastructure and defence manufacturing as its core operational domains.
