Reconstruction projects kicks off in Helmand

Lashkargah: Around 39 reconstruction projects have been started with the support of National Solidarity Program (NSP) in the capital and three other districts of the southern Helmand province, an official said on Monday.

Provincial Rural Rehabilitation and Development department head Haji Muhammad Omer Qanai told Pajhwok Afghan News the projects included construction of water supply system, levees, roads, sewerages system and launching tailoring courses in the areas.

He informed 12 projects are for Lashkargah, 17 for Nawai, 8 for Nehr-e-Siraj and other two would be executed in the Musa Qala district of the province.

Qanai said that ten per cent of the total amount is contributed by the locals while the remaining amount over 24 million afghanis provided by NSP.

The department head hoped the projects benefiting 8079 families would be completed in three months.

The dwellers of the districts appreciated the reconstruction process in their region and hoped it would benefit numerous people of the province.
