Railways to start survey for operating bullet trains

Patna: Indian Railways will undertake survey work for the proposal of running bullet train between Patna and Delhi for assessing its feasibility. The total cost of the survey will cost about Rs 11 crore and route covers Bihar, UP and Delhi.

The cost of survey is to be shared between the railways and the planned states. Of the 1,000 km stretching from Patna to Delhi about 200 km falls in Bihar. Bihar government will share half of the cost on the survey upto 200 km.

Railways are conducting survey on the Pune-Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Delhi-Chandigarh, Patna-Delhi, Bangalore-Chennai and Chennai-Hyderabad routes. It will require at least Rs 10,000 crore to build the infrastructure for operating bullet trains.
