Qualcomm Expands India Footprint with Tata Electronics Automotive Module Deal.
In a significant boost to India’s semiconductor and automotive technology ecosystem, Tata Electronics has announced a partnership with Qualcomm Technologies to manufacture Qualcomm Automotive Modules in India.
Under the agreement, Tata Electronics will serve as a manufacturing partner to support the rising global demand for modular automotive platforms. The products will be produced at Tata Electronics’ upcoming semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility in Jagiroad, Assam, marking a major step in advancing domestic semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
The modules are designed to meet the needs of both Indian and international automakers, particularly in areas such as digital cockpits, infotainment systems, connectivity solutions, and intelligent vehicle technologies.
Qualcomm Automotive Modules integrate the Snapdragon Digital Chassis system-on-chips (SoCs) with essential system components into a single, production-ready unit. By consolidating key elements into a streamlined module, the solution simplifies vehicle system design and accelerates development timelines.
Industry observers note that the partnership aligns with the automotive sector’s shift toward software-defined vehicles, enabling scalable, turnkey architectures that support next-generation mobility platforms while strengthening India’s position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
