PWD to Undertake Repair Work on Four Key Flyovers.

The Public Works Department (PWD) is set to undertake repair work on four key flyovers in Delhi—Sarita Vihar, Shadipur, Seelampur, and Zakhira—in the coming months.

According to a PWD official, the department is coordinating with traffic police for necessary approvals and traffic diversion plans. “Once we secure the required NOCs, tenders will be floated. We aim to complete the repairs within the next few months,” the official said.

The Sarita Vihar flyover, which underwent partial repairs last year, will see work on the remaining carriageway. The earlier phase caused congestion due to lane closures, and a similar situation may arise when the opposite side undergoes repairs.

The Shadipur and Seelampur flyovers, among the oldest in the city, also require maintenance. Meanwhile, the Zakhira flyover, built in the 1970s, is a crucial link to Rohtak Road and Najafgarh Road, witnessing heavy truck movement from industrial zones in Mundka, Nangloi, and Anand Parbat.

To minimize inconvenience, the Delhi government has directed PWD to expedite the repairs. “The work will include fixing expansion joints, repairing concrete structures, and replacing bearings,” the official added.

PWD Minister Parvesh Verma recently reviewed the ongoing infrastructure projects in the capital.
