Proposals worth Rs. 1k cr gets state nod.
The state government recently approved seven investment proposals worth Rs. 1036.39 crore, expected to create employment opportunities for 2,778 people.
The projects, approved by the single window clearance authority headed by chief secretary A P Padhi, were from sectors like tourism, metals, plastics, food processing and infrastructure.
The panel cleared a proposal by Odisha-based Mayfair Hotels and Resorts Ltd. to set up a convention centre in the city with a capacity to accommodate 4000 people. The project would generate employment to 850 people.
Another project by leading plastic manufacturer Supreme Industries Ltd. also got the nod. It would set up a manufacturing unit in Khurda for production of plastic pipes, PVC water tanks and allied products with an investment of Rs. 151.30 crore. The unit has the potential to generate 320 jobs.
The two food processing units approved by the panel include one by Thailand-based Intecqc Feed Co Ltd for setting up a shrimp feed manufacturing unit in Khurda with an investment of Rs. 107.88 crore and another by Explore Food Pvt Ltd., an Odisha-based industry for manufacturing of ready-to-eat snacks in Khurda with an investment of Rs. 51.40 crore. Together, they are expected to generate jobs of around 400 people.
In the metal sector, a proposal by KAI International Pvt Ltd. for setting up of an iron ore beneficiation and pellet plant in Sundargarh district was approved. It envisaged investment of Rs. 265.72 crore and creation of job opportunities for 475 people.
Similarly, the government also approved an infrastructure project by Chalah Infratech Pvt Ltd to set up a logistics park in Khurda district with an investment of Rs. 99.80 crore and job opportunities for 234.
While approving the projects, the chief secretary directed the concerned departments to make a realistic assessment of the requirements of land and water for these industrial units. The departments were also asked to provide proactive support for early grounding of the projects.
Sources in the state industries department said the the panel recommended five more investment proposals for approval of the high-level clearance authority headed by chief minister Naveen Patnaik as each of the project involves investment intent of Rs. 1000 crore and above.
