Ponnara bridge being reconstructed.

Delay in the implementation of civil works will not be tolerated under any circumstances, Public Works Minister G.Sudhakaran has said. The maximum time gap between technical-administrative sanctions and tendering is four months. He was speaking after inaugurating the re-construction work of the Ponnara Perunelli bridge connecting the Kovalam-Kazhakuttam NH Bypass and the Beemappally-Valiyathura road here on Monday.

The bridge of 32.16 metres length and 11.26 breadth is being built at a cost of ₹14 crores. There will be walkways of 1.5 metre each on both sides. The reconstruction of the bridge is being done as the existing bridge was found to be unsafe. The construction work is expected to be completed in 18 months.
