Poddar Plumbing to Invest ₹758 Cr in Karnataka, Create 12,000 Jobs.
Poddar Plumbing, a prominent manufacturer of CPVC and PVC pipes, has significantly scaled up its investment plans in Karnataka, committing ₹758 crore, a substantial increase from its initial ₹492 crore proposal. This expanded investment is set to establish a major new facility in the Vemgal Industrial Area (Phase 2) in Kolar, signaling a robust boost for the region's industrial landscape and employment opportunities.
The new plant, sprawling across 33 acres, is projected to commence production by August 2026. In a further expansion, the company has also proposed a second manufacturing unit in Vijayapura. This ambitious growth strategy is expected to generate a total of 12,000 jobs, comprising 3,000 direct and 9,000 indirect employment opportunities, offering a significant uplift to local livelihoods.
The announcement followed a meeting on Tuesday at Khanija Bhavan between Poddar Plumbing’s Managing Director Deepak Poddar and Director Varun Poddar, and a state minister, underscoring the government's support for the venture.
Poddar Plumbing projects an impressive annual turnover of ₹1,500 crore from its operations in the state, potentially contributing a substantial ₹3,000 crore in tax revenues to Karnataka. The company has already secured 28 acres in Vemgal, with the remaining five acres expected to be handed over shortly, paving the way for the swift commencement of the project.
