Phase I of Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project Approved.

The Andhra Pradesh government recently approved the first phase of the Visakhapatnam metro rail project, which will span approximately 46.23 km.

The initial phase will consist of three corridors: from Steel Plant Junction to Kommadi (34.40 km), from Gurudwara to Old Post Office Junction (5.08 km), and from Thatichetlapalem to Chinna Waltair (6.75 km).

The revised cost estimate for this phase, based on 2024 prices, is ₹11,498 crore.

Phase two of the project will include a fourth corridor, extending from Kommadi to Bhogapuram. This section will be developed after the Bhogapuram airport becomes operational.
