PepsiCo India is making a significant investment of ₹1,266 crore to establish a cutting-edge flavor manufacturing facility in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, the company announced on Tuesday. This marks PepsiCo's second flavor manufacturing site in India and aims to facilitate the production of beverage flavors specifically tailored for the Indian market.

Scheduled to commence construction later this year, the plant is expected to become operational by the first quarter of 2026. Encompassing an expansive 22 acres, the facility will play a pivotal role in augmenting PepsiCo's beverage manufacturing capabilities within India.

Jagrut Kotecha, Chief Executive Officer of PepsiCo India & South Asia, emphasized the company's commitment to expanding its operations in India. "With support from the government of Madhya Pradesh, we aim to strengthen our footprint while driving impactful progress in enhancing the socio-economic landscape of the region," stated Kotecha. He further highlighted the facility's alignment with the 'Make in India' initiative, emphasizing sustainability and continuous innovation as core principles.

George Kovoor, Senior Vice President of Beverages at PepsiCo India, reiterated the company's dedication to meeting the growing demand for beverages in the country. "This strategic investment not only strengthens our dedication to providing the highest quality beverages to our consumers but also reinforces our responsibility to drive sustainable practices across our operations," Kovoor remarked.

PepsiCo's first flavor manufacturing facility in India is located in Channo, Punjab. With the establishment of the Ujjain plant, the company aims to further solidify its presence in the Indian flavor market.

Currently, PepsiCo operates five manufacturing facilities in India. Alongside the new facility in Madhya Pradesh, the company is also constructing another plant in Assam.

The upcoming manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh will prioritize renewable energy sources to reduce its carbon footprint. Additionally, it will utilize Zero Liquid Discharge technology and strive to achieve approximately 90 percent overall water efficiency, aligning with PepsiCo's commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
