PDC gets donors for six uplift projects

Qalat: Officials of Provincial Development Council (PDC) of southern Zabul said that in last three months they gained the grant for six development projects from donors which are currently underway.

Mukhtar Ahmad, Secretary of PDC and the economic department manager of Zabul province said during the current year PDC prepared proposals for development projects with the support of technical advisors.

Muhkhtar considered the projects very important for the people of Zabul province and added that the projects are monitored by PDC.

He said the construction of a football ground; a nursery and the road construction project in Qalat are among the projects that PDC has visited.

Mukhtar said with support of technical advisor PDC capacity has been built and coordination has been enhanced. He added three months back there were many problems in PDC, but it has been now resolved to greater extent.

He said in last three months the technical advisor has trained them on management, planning, coordination of PDC, assessment and evaluation of the projects and reporting.

Mukhtar said an organized manual has been created to PDC, based on which agenda is built for the committee, key minutes are listed, and meeting reports are prepared which is used for the increase of the committee members.

Zabul PDC has membership of six sector department which meets once a month and also some times in special conditions.

Mukhtar said that in last three months the committee has held seven meetings and have made important decisions.

There have been many reconstruction works in Zabul province, launched by donors without any coordination which did not have any visible impact on the lives of ordinary people.

What is the role of PDC on the coordination of the reconstruction work, Mukhtar said: 'we have prepared the list of all donors, which we meet them regularly and when we see the need of any project we prepare proposal to the donors, this way we try to provide impact of our work'

He said that Provincial Development Plan administration has helped them in finding donors and the relations have been kept through technical advisors.

Mukhtar Ahmad asked all departments of Zabul should be provide with similar assistance of computers, English language training and other equipments which has been provided to economic department.
