Oracle to set up five more offices in India.

Under its second phase of geo-expansion business, NYSE-listed Oracle Corp will add another five offices by May this year, increasing its total number to 10 in India. The additional branches would come up at Chandigarh, Lucknow, Jaipur, Bhopal and Thiruvananthapuram.

'There are huge growth opportunities in Tier-II and Tier-III cities and the idea behind setting up a separate division, geo-expansion business, was to be close to the customers, create awareness about our product offerings, and offer backup and product support in these regions,' said Yatin Kantak, Vice-President, Geo Expansion Program at Oracle India.

'We have a strong focus in supporting mid-size firms that have aspirations to compete in the global market,' Kantak said.

Under its geo expansion strategy initiated last year, Oracle had set up offices in Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Pune. Under the programme, the company’s focus industries are manufacturing, automobile, pharmaceutical and Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI).

Oracle represents all its four lines of businesses - technology, applications, systems and fusion middleware - under its geo-expansion programme.

In these regions, the company is looking at providing services to small and medium businesses (SMB), that have capital constraints and lack in-house IT expertise. Oracle will advice and manage technology infrastructure for its SMB clients under the programme.

According to industry body Nasscom, Indian SMB market will grow 15 per cent per annum to propel IT spending in the sector to over $18.5 billion by 2018.
