NTPC to Hire Consultant for Identifying Overseas Uranium Mines.

State-run power major NTPC will soon appoint a consultant to identify uranium mines abroad, following the signing of a formal agreement with Uranium Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL), a company official said.

The move is part of NTPC’s broader strategy to secure a steady supply of raw materials for its upcoming nuclear energy projects, which the company plans to develop independently in the future.

Currently, NTPC is constructing its first nuclear power project in a joint venture with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) in Rajasthan. The project, under the entity ASHVINI, involves an investment of around ₹42,000 crore, with NTPC holding a 49% stake and NPCIL holding the majority 51%.
