Nod for doubling, electrification of railway lines across four States.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved creation of several railway lines - which will be doubled and electrified - and one new rail line project. The projects will be completed by 2021-22 to 2022-23, apart from creating capacity, jobs and linking non-rail linked regions. The rail links which will be doubled and electrified are: 116.95 km Bhatni-Aurnihar line doubling with electrification at an estimated cost of Rs. 1300.9 crore, 425-km long Jhansi-Manikpur and Bhimsen-Khairar lines doubling and electrification projects at a cost of Rs. 4,955.72 crore. Another similar project is 100.6-km long Muzaffarpur-Sagauli and 109.7 km Sagauli-Valmiki Nagar lines doubling projects with electrification at a cost of Rs. 1,347.61 crore and Rs. 1,381.49 crore respectively.

Another line that received the Cabinet nod is the 130-km- long Jeypore-Malkangiri New Line project at a cost of Rs. 2,676.11 crore and is likely to be completed by 2021-22.
