NLC India Ltd. updates on operations

In the recent past there has been an outbreak of Novel Corona Virus disease (Covid-19), which was declared 'as a panndemic by the WHO vide its report dated 12.03.2020. Unprecedented measures were taken to control this viral outbreak in India, which included but not limiting to social distancing and shutdown of work places, movement of persons and prohibiting resumption of work for a particular period of time.

Government of india has taken various measures including 'Lock Down' for 21 days from 25.03.2020 onwards to prevent its spread across the country while ensuring maintenance of essential services and supplies vide Ministry of Home Affairs order dated 24.03.2020.

To comply with this order and to strictly ensure social distancing by enforcing "People to Stay at Home" as mining involves engagement of Human Resources in large numbers, operation in NLC India Limited's (NLCIL) opencast Mines at Neyveli including removal of Overburden and mining of Lignite has been temporarily stopped.

Since all the NLCIL's opencast mines are linked with Pit Head Thermal Power Stations, Lignite supply is being continued from the Pit Head Stock to maintain the power generation.

As sufficient stock is available at every Mines, Lignite supply will be maintained to the Pit Head Power stations throughout the present Lock down period. Once the Lock down period is over, all Mines will resume its production within few hours.
