NHA directed to complete ongoing projects in time
Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari directed the timely completion of all ongoing construction projects by the National Highway Authority (NHA).
The president issued these directives during a briefing about the ongoing projects of the NHA at the Ministry of Communication.
Zardari told the meeting that there would be no compromise on the quality of materials used for the projects.
Federal Communication Minister Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan and Federal Minister for Investment Senator Waqar Ahmad also attended the briefing. The communication minister told the meeting that the NHA was responsible for constructing and maintaining the national highway network. Arbab praised the performance of the NHA.
The meeting was informed about the ongoing projects of the NHA in Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan, which include the Lyari Expressway, the Larkana-Khairpur Bridge on the Indus River, the Chand Bridge at the Chenab River, the Islamabad-Muzaffarabad Road and the Lowari Rail Tunnel Project. The meeting also discussed the National Trade Corridor (NTC).
It was informed that around Rs 312 billion would be provided for the construction of these projects over the next five to seven years.
