Nepal to get UNDP aid worth Rs 270 million

Kathmandu: Nepal will get a financial assistance worth Rs 270 million from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to support its micro-enterprises.

The aid is a part of a cost sharing agreement signed between the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and the UNDP to continue support to the Micro-Enterprise Development Programme (MEDEP) in Nepal.

The additional resources from AusAID will allow UNDP to back 20,000 more low income families to establish agro-based, forest-based, tourism-based and service-based micro-enterprises through MEDEP, Phase III (April 2008- December 2010).

MEDEP III will also support capacity building within the local bodies, non-government organisations and private sector.
