NCC completes sewage treatment plant

Hyderabad: Construction major Nagarjuna Construction Company has built the Rs 100-crore, Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Amberpet in Hyderabad.

The plant is jointly funded by the National River Conservation Directorate, Ministry of Environment and Forest, and the Andhra Pradesh Government.

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, will inaugurate the STP plant on Sunday.

About 339 million litres of sewage will be treated daily in this plant, which the company said was Asia's biggest STP plant.

Sewage from northern and southern parts of the city reach the Musi River through pipelines and are diverted through special pipelines to the plant. After treatment, the water is released back into the river in a phased manner ensuring that the water does not contaminate, a company press release said.
