Nalco placed Rs. 294 Cr order with MSEs in FY14.

National Aluminium Company (Nalco), the navratna PSU under the Union ministry of Mines, has placed orders worth Rs. 294 crores with the micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in 2013-14.

This was revealed at the 19th Plant Level Advisory Committee (PLAC) meeting organsied here.

Stating that Nalco is always eager to support the MSEs, Ansuman Das, Chairman and Managing Director, Nalco said, 'In the context of globalization, it is evident that the MSE units should lay more emphasis on maintaining quality, cost competitiveness and technological up-gradation.'

The constant and mutually beneficial interactions, coupled with support from the concerned government bodies, have helped in fostering better business relation between Nalco and MSE units, the CMD added.

On the proposed Aluminium Park at Angul, Das said, Nalco has already committed to supply 50,000 tonne hot metal to the downstream units proposed to be set up in the park. Odisha based industries should take advantage of it, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, state MSME secretary Panchanan Dash asked all the District Industries Centres (DICs) to play the role of facilitators between Nalco and the MSEs.
