Mizoram Government Considers Building Ropeway Between Aizawl and Lengpui.

The Mizoram government is exploring the construction of a ropeway and cable-car facilities between Aizawl and Lengpui to boost tourism and enhance connectivity, according to an official statement released recently. Chief Minister Lalduhoma led a meeting to discuss the feasibility of the project, which is also set to connect the Sairang railway station.

The proposed Aizawl-Sairang railway station-Lengpui ropeway project aims to improve transportation between the state capital and Lengpui, home to Mizoram's only airport. The project is expected to promote tourism while enhancing the state's public transport system.

During the meeting, officials considered whether the project could be executed through the state's tourism department or the Aizawl Sustainable Urban Transport Project (ASUTP), which is being implemented by the Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) department with external funding.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Minister K. Sapdanga, Tourism Minister Lalrinpuii, Chief Minister's Finance Adviser TBC Lalvenchhunga, and other department representatives.
