Medica Superspeciality to invest Rs. 450 cr in eastern India.

Medica Superspeciality hospital plans to invest Rs. 450 crore in the region in next couple of years.

The Kolkata-based super speciality hospital has recently entered into an MoU with Kantilal Gandhi Memorial Hospital (KGMH) here and invested Rs. 30 crores to transform it into a super speciality hospital, chairman of Medica, Alok Roy said recently.

Supported by Tata Steel, the KGMH was being managed by a trust, which decided to go for a tie-up with Medica to upgrade the facilities as well as to take off the pressure on the company's Tata Main Hospital here in the city, TMH chief officer Ramdas said.

Among other projects, Roy said, Medica has set up a 302-bed super speciality hospital in Ranchi, which will be inaugurated in April.

The hospital, equipped with modern technology, was built over four acres of land near Bariatu road in Ranchi at an estimated cost of Rs. 70 crore, he said.

'We have a plan to build another hospital in Patna within a year and the plot has already been identified,' he added.

Medica has already invested Rs. 500 crore, since its inception six years ago, and have hospitals in Kolkata, Siliguri (West Bengal), Assam and north-eastern states, company officials said.
