Max Healthcare Bolsters Western Presence with Acquisition of Alexis Multi-Specialty Hospital
Max Healthcare Institute Ltd has completed the acquisition of 100% stake in Alexis Multi-Speciality Hospital Private Ltd (Alexis) for an enterprise value of ₹412 crore, solidifying its foothold in the western region. The 200-bedded hospital, located at Mankapur, North of Nagpur, is a JCI-accredited facility and serves as an upmarket residential and commercial hub, according to a statement from the hospital chain.
Chairman and Managing Director of Max Healthcare, Abhay Soi, expressed, "The acquisition of Alexis Hospital is in line with our vision to expand our footprint in tier-2 cities with abundance of clinical talent and developed private healthcare infrastructure. Alexis Hospital acquisition will strengthen our presence in Maharashtra region." With this acquisition, Max Healthcare now boasts four JCI-accredited facilities in its network.
The hospital offers comprehensive care in various specialties including gastroenterology, neurosurgery, cardiology, transplants, and diagnostics. It is equipped with state-of-the-art biomedical equipment such as Varian True Beam LINAC, 128 Slice CT Scan, 3 Tesla MRI, Digital X Ray, and ARTIS Q Cath Lab. Additionally, plans are in place to enhance medical programs in surgical specialties like urology, oncology, and neurosciences to improve average revenue per occupied bed (ARPOB) and occupied bed days (OBD).
Nagpur, known for its rapid growth, high population density, and literacy rate, provides an ideal environment for healthcare expansion. The presence of government hospitals, medical colleges, and private healthcare players ensures the availability of experienced medical talent in the city.
Co-Chairperson of Zulekha Healthcare Group, Zanubia Shams, highlighted that their decision to divest the business was driven by strategic focus on healthcare businesses in the UAE and Gulf.
