Manual dredging at Azhikkal port begins.

Manual dredging has resumed at the Azhikkal port. It will allow the Ports Department to earn additional revenue from sand sale and provide livelihood to local sand-mining workers.

After the tender period ended on March 31, the State government terminated the system of granting sand-mining permits to co-operative societies. Now, local panchayats have been awarded the sand-mining permit.
