Male to set up desalination plant in Nilandhoo

Male: The island administrative office in Nilandhoo, Faaf Atoll has said that a desalination plant had been installed in the island.

According to the office, funding for the plant was provided by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The office also says that water distribution from the plant has been tested. However the office says that the plant will begin distributing water to the island community after 10 days.

According to residents in the island ground water in the island is not good for consumption due to pollution.

The office says that the desalination plant will produce ten tons of water every day.
