Lulu Group International Boosts India–Gulf Food Supply Chain with 8,000 Tonnes Shipment.

With a large Indian expatriate population of over 9 million across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), access to essential food supplies remains a critical concern. Addressing this need, Lulu Group International has transported more than 8,000 tonnes of food products from India to GCC countries over the past two weeks, helping stabilise supply chains and support the community.

The retail major said it coordinated closely with government authorities, international airlines, and logistics partners to operate 17 special chartered cargo flights, in addition to vessel shipments. Essential commodities such as fruits and vegetables, rice, eggs, meat, and other staples were sourced from multiple regions across India, with most air cargo dispatched from Kochi and Delhi airports.

Of the total shipments, over 5,000 tonnes of fresh perishables were delivered to the United Arab Emirates alone through dedicated cargo operations. In partnership with Etihad Airways, more than 10 chartered flights carried consignments, supplemented by sea shipments and repatriation flights, ensuring a steady and uninterrupted flow of essential food items and fresh produce.
