Lighting major invest Rs. 1,000-mn in Haryana

Sonepat: Lighting manufacturer Osram India, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Siemens, is investing Rs 80-100 crore for setting up a manufacturing facility at Sonepat in Haryana for compact fluorescent lamps and other energy saving lamps.

While speaking at the ground breaking ceremony of the facility, Mr Martin Goetzeler, Gobal President and CEO, Osram, said: “We will double our present manufacturing capacity in India with this plant”. He, however, declined to divulge the planned capacity at the plant.

The company has an existing facility at Sonepat. The new plant will be built during 2008 and will then become operational in phases. It could also serve the company’s export markets.
