Lanka IOC plans to expand its operations

Sri lLanka: Lanka IOC is now looking for expanding its operations to Colombo and Hambantota in the future, its Managing Director Ramakrishnan said. He said that currently IOC provides bunkering service to four ships for a day and the current bunkering market in the country is 20,000 tonnes.

LIOC commenced ship bunkering operations in Trincomalee sometime back. At present two companies are involved in bunkering business namely Lanka Marine Services and Lanka Maritime Services.

Current bunkering business is 20,000 tonnes which is a growing market with the emergence of the sector, he said.

Around 100 ships for a day pass through Sri Lankan coastline between the Gulf Region and Singapore. Hence an aggressive marketing with an enabling agent in the down stream operations of bunkering will enable larger volumes in the near future

LIOC has made a humble beginning in the commencement of sales of bunker fuels from Trincomalee in May 2007.
